THE CLIENT

WHERE IT STARTED

BEFORE DIGITAL MARKETING

When Marketing Meant Word of Mouth, Newspapers & Leaflet Drops.

Long before customers searched Google for caravan upholstery, A1 Caravan Upholstery built its reputation the traditional way.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, new customers came predominantly through word of mouth, newspaper advertising and leaflet drops.

There were no:

  • Google Ads campaigns.
  • No Search Console.
  • No conversion tracking.
  • No social media strategy.

Just a specialist family business, quality workmanship and a reputation that customers were happy to recommend.
It worked. But the way people found businesses was beginning to change.

2007

THE FIRST WEBSITE

In 2007, I built A1 Caravan Upholstery’s first website.
There wasn’t a grand plan to build a digital marketing agency.

The goal was much simpler:
Put the family business online and help more customers find it.
But once the website was live, something became obvious.

The internet gave a specialist business the opportunity to reach customers far beyond anything a newspaper advert or leaflet drop could achieve.

And that created another question:

  • How do we get more people to find the website?
  • That question led to SEO.
  • How do we turn those visitors into customers?
  • That led to improving the website, its content and the customer journey.
  • Then: How do we know what’s actually working?
  • That led to analytics, conversion tracking and increasingly sophisticated digital marketing.
  • One website became the beginning of a much bigger journey.

The Challenge

As the Business Evolved, the Marketing Had to Evolve With It.

The way customers discover and research businesses today bears little resemblance to the early 1990s.

  • Newspapers gave way to search engines.
  • Desktop websites gave way to mobile-first browsing.
  • Google Ads created new opportunities to capture demand.
  • Social media changed how businesses demonstrate their work.
  • Reviews became an important part of building trust.
  • Analytics made it possible to understand what customers actually do.
  • And competition for visibility became considerably more sophisticated.

For A1 Caravan Upholstery, that meant standing still was never really an option.

The challenge became:
How do we keep a traditional family business competitive as marketing continually changes?

The Website

2007 → TODAY

The first A1 Caravan Upholstery website launched in 2007.

Since then, the company’s website has been redesigned, rebuilt and continually improved as technology, customer expectations and the business itself have changed.

But the objective has remained remarkably consistent:

Make it easy for potential customers to discover A1, trust the quality of its work and get in touch. Over the years, we’ve worked on:

  • Mobile Experience
Making it easy for customers to explore the business and its services regardless of the device they’re using.
  • Customer Journey
Creating clearer routes between discovering a service, viewing previous work and making an enquiry.
  • Speed & Performance
Improving the technical performance of the website as user experience and Google’s expectations have evolved.
  • Content Management
Making it easier to keep services, products, images and information up to date.
  • Conversion
Developing stronger calls to action and clearer opportunities for customers to make contact.
  • SEO Foundations
Structuring the website around the services, questions and searches potential customers actually use.

SEO - Getting Found

Building Visibility as Google Became the New High Street.

Potential customers needed to find it. As search engines became increasingly important to the way people discovered businesses, SEO became a fundamental part of A1 Caravan Upholstery’s marketing.

Over the years, Lunar Reach has continually worked on improving the company’s organic search presence.

This has included:

  • Keyword Research
Understanding how potential customers search for caravan upholstery and related services.
  • Service Page Optimisation
Building and improving pages around the services customers are actively looking for.
  • Technical SEO
Maintaining the technical foundations required for search engines to crawl, understand and index the website.
  • On-Page SEO
Continually improving content, headings, metadata, imagery and page structure.
  • Content
Creating useful information that supports both customers and search visibility.
  • Internal Linking
Helping customers and search engines navigate between relevant services and information.
  • Search Monitoring
Using performance data to identify new opportunities and areas requiring improvement.

SEO has never been treated as a one-off campaign. It has been an ongoing part of keeping A1 Caravan Upholstery visible as search behaviour, technology and competition have changed.

GOOGLE ADS

Reaching Customers When They’re Ready to Look.

As paid search evolved, Google Ads provided another way for A1 Caravan Upholstery to reach potential customers actively searching for relevant services. Rather than relying solely on organic search visibility, paid advertising could place the business in front of customers at the moment they were demonstrating intent.

Our ongoing Google Ads work has included:

  • Campaign management
  • Keyword targeting
  • Search-term analysis
  • Negative keyword management
  • Location targeting
  • Ad copy optimisation
  • Budget management
  • Conversion tracking
  • Landing-page analysis

But our approach has never been about generating the biggest possible number of clicks.

Clicks aren’t customers.

The objective is to understand which advertising activity contributes to genuine enquiries and opportunities for the business.

The Result

Nearly Two Decades of Digital Evolution.

A1 Caravan Upholstery isn’t a six-month marketing campaign. It’s an example of what happens when a business continually adapts its marketing as technology and customer behaviour change.

The business has moved from relying predominantly on traditional advertising and recommendations to operating with an established digital presence supported by search, advertising, content and ongoing website development.
